The UK and India have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation on a range of Intellectual Property (IP)-related activities on 8th November, 2016.

UK has launched various programmes in India on 8th November, 2016 for investment in research through the Newton Fund. The investments demonstrate the fund as a major bilateral initiative in India. It brings together the world class excellence of the UK and India to address global challenges through science and technology.
The research investments are launched to support commercially focused research and development partnerships that bring innovative biotechnologies to market for cleaning, processing and using industrial waste streams.

In order to improve air quality in UK, the government has worked on to bring new legislation. The Neighbourhood Planning Bill includes a series of amendments whereby secretary of state can direct neighbouring planning authorities to prepare joint plans. The repeal bill is to free EU legislation and would convert EU law into UK law, which could then be amended or discarded as desired domestically.
The bill gives the guidance to local authorities on making byelaws. It gives emphasis on new minimum room sizes and other measures for shared housing. The bill features about the Environment Agency giving updated permitting details for waste and flooding.
